SAN LORENZO, Calif. — The San Lorenzo branch of Alameda County Library is more than a place to borrow books. It provides computers, community-language materials, meeting spaces and a civic information corner that residents can use without traveling to a neighboring incorporated city’s offices.

What residents can find

The library’s official branch page lists a community-language collection, computers and laptops, free Wi-Fi, public printing, scanning and faxing services, and a Civics Corner. Other features include a community display case, a nearby playground and free parking with bicycle facilities. Availability of a specific device or program may change during the day, so contact the branch before planning a visit around a particular resource.

The branch address is 395 Paseo Grande, San Lorenzo, CA 94580. Its published phone number is (510) 284-0640. A local source of civic information matters here because San Lorenzo is an unincorporated Alameda County community, not an independent city with a San Lorenzo City Hall.

Regular hours and meeting rooms

As shown by the library at the time of publication, branch hours are Monday and Tuesday noon–8 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday 1–5 p.m. Friday is listed as closed. Holiday or staff-related changes can override those regular hours; check the live branch listing for up-to-date information.

For organizations considering meetings, Alameda County Library operates a room reservation system. Its policy says reservations must be made at least seven days in advance and may be requested up to six weeks ahead. Public meeting rooms are intended for qualifying noncommercial educational, civic, cultural and community activity, and events must be open to the public. Booking remains subject to room availability and library rules.

Why service boundaries matter

Alameda County lists San Lorenzo among its unincorporated communities. That means land-use and certain public works matters are handled by county government rather than an imaginary City of San Lorenzo. Library districts, mailing names, school boundaries and the jurisdiction of a particular roadway are separate questions that need address-specific verification.

Alameda County’s postal-place-name update effective in March 2025 also recognized the identities of six unincorporated communities, including San Lorenzo, but the county explains that many San Lorenzo addresses already used the community name and their ZIP codes did not change. The library’s postal address should not be mistaken for a new incorporation or a change of local government.
